BOAT TRIPS RUN ALL DAY EVERYDAY

Lady Grace Boat Trips runs the 20 minute trips 7 days a week all year round from Mersea Island, times vary based on the time of year so it is best to check my operating times for the day via my online availability calendar. This calendar will also show you any given times during the day when I am booked on longer trips so therefore any times you need to avoid when planning a trip on the Lady Grace. The 20 minute trips do not require booking, just turn up at the end of the jetty within the times given on my availability calendar and wait for the boat to return. I operate on a first come first serve basis so if it is a busy day please be sure to get in the queue and wait your turn. I have no sets times, I just leave whenever anyone would like to go and there is no minimum number required either so I can leave with as little as one person on board.  The 20 minute trip costs just £3 per person, its the same price for children, babies and OAP's, everyone's the same price and I ask where possible if you could try to bring the correct money this would be most helpful as my change on the boat is limited. Dogs are allowed on board but I do ask that they must stay sitting on the floor and kept away from any nervous trippers. The 20 minute trip consists of a gentle relaxing trip around the Packing Shed Island where they used to pack the oysters back in the 1850's, you can still see the remains from the old oyster beds today.  I can operate at all states of tide; if you come out near low water then we are likely to see a variety of wading birds on the mudflats or if you come on high tide you will see Mersea Island from a completely different perspective motoring past a variety of different moored pleasure and working boats.  This trip is suitable for individuals, families, groups and schools. I do not offer a running commentary as I feel you get a more personalised trip by being given the opportunity to ask me questions if you wish or to enjoy the trip in silence enjoying the peace and serenity of being on the water without me mumbling along in the background.

I offer a variety of longer trips from sunset picnic trips, cake sunset trips, trips over to Bradwell on the other side of the river, children’s pirate parties, bird watching and a ferry service for visiting yachtsmen.  To find out more about the longer trips please click here. All longer trips must be booked and paid for in advance to secure your booking.

I am also a photographer of all things beautiful on the water, whether it be a landscape, sunrise, sunset or wildlife - I capture it behind my lens and you can view and buy my photographs on canvas and HD metal.  I love to write in my spare time on the boat and published my first book, Daffodil's Journey Home, in October 2016, based on a true story of an abandoned duckling that escapes the clutches of a fox and comes to live with me until she is old and well enough to be released back to the wild.  My second book, Seabirds on the Seashore, was published in March 2017 sharing with you my passion for the wildlife I see on a daily basis out on Lady Grace, it is both educational as well as being a lovely cute story sharing the cheeky characteristics of the wading birds.  It has equal measures of happiness and sadness as you follow Sidney Spoonbill and Edith the Little Egrets' adventures. December 2017 I published my third book; Graceful Goodies, a recipe book of over 40 of my favourite cake and desserts I’ve perfected to share onboard Lady’s Grace during my cake sunset Trips. These books are available on my website through my online shop to buy, you can view these items by clicking here. They make wonderful Christmas and Birthday presents!

Bird Watching Trips

Bird watching trips are available during November through until April

During the winter months we have over 300,000 birds inhabit our coastline, travelling in from Scandinavia, our mudflats attract them as they are like a massive larder to these birds to feed up on. Local birds sighted include Curlews, Cormorants, Egrets, Turnstones, Knots, Marsh Harriers, Shags, Sanderling, Dunlin, Brent Geese, Swans, Shell Ducks, Mallard, Oyster Catchers, Bar-Tailed Godwits, Black-Tailed Godwits, Ringed Plover, Redshank and Greenshank, Whimbrel, Herons, Greylag Geese, Guillemots, Red-Throated Diver, Great Nothern Diver, Avocets, Spoonbills and not forgetting the common and black-headed gulls and common terns and many more. Wildlife and bird watching groups and clubs are all welcome.

The 2 most popular trips offered through the winter months for the birdwatching are as follows:

1. Low water waders - exploring Tollesbury and Salcot creeks round the low tides gives us a fantastic opportunity to see the wading birds feasting on the mudflats and possibly see divers off in the deeper water.

2. High water murmurations - exploring Tollesbury creeks on high tide provides us with spectacular sights as the birds gather up in the air together forming mesmerising patterns overhead whilst ducks paddle amongst the tide-flooded lagoons of marshland.

Cost: £100 for up to 6 passengers or £180 for up to 12 passengers.

It is advisable for the bird watching trip to limit it to 6 people for comfort during the trip.

Why not give me a call on 07791 859624 now to discuss your preferred date and I will have a look at the tides to see what is available for the day.

Every trip is different and you never know what you might see. We frequently see seals on these trips and occasionally we are lucky enough to also see porpoises too!

Wildlife is in abundance around Mersea Island and you never know what you might come across including the Mersea Seal!

For those of you that don't know your birds that well, Stacey has created her very own bird app which has a series of yes/no questions you follow to identify which birds you are looking at.  This app is available on iPhone, iPad and android devices.

PLEASE CALL 07791859624 to check availability and please read the T&C's regarding weather and cancellations prior to making your payment.
